Chemische resistentie PTFE

PTFE wordt aangetast door sommige alkali metalen (gesmolten of in oplossing) en aparte fluorverbindingen bij hoge temperaturen en/of drukken. Sommige organische en gehalogeneerde oplosmiddelen worden geabsorbeerd waardoor kleine dimensionele veranderingen ontstaan, maar deze effecten zijn fysiek en ook omkeerbaar.

Opmerking: De chemische weerstand van elk polymeer wordt grotendeels bepaald door de chemische structuur van het materiaal en de sterkte van de zwakste schakel in deze structuur.

Feitelijke eigenschappen kunnen veranderen als gevolg van verwerkingsmethode, compound type, geëxtrudeerde afmetingen en andere variabelen. Het is de verantwoordelijkheid van de eindgebruiker om de geschiktheid volledig te testen voor de specifieke toepassing.
