Our team in the warehouse is a close-knit group. Together, we make sure our customers' orders are shipped as well and as quickly as possible. Hans van Dongen is a valued team member in this process. This handy guy gets on his bike every day with a good feeling to serve our customers. "I always want to do a perfect job for our customers, and I get upset when something goes wrong." Time to get to know him better.
Hans lives in Teteringen with his wife and stepdaughter. At home, he is often doing DIY. "I love doing odd jobs in and around the house. Painting, laying laminate floor; I have a feel for it. I love rolling up my sleeves. I also like to enjoy some rest and relaxation by going on holiday or sitting on a terrace. I can sometimes be found at Café de Vulling in Breda, for example."
Hans used to work for Hitachi, a manufacturer of excavators. Here he started as a sprayer and then became Quality Controller. "I was mainly concerned with the layer thicknesses of the paint to keep a close eye on the standards." Hans was forced to make a new move. "In May 2020, we heard about a reorganisation. 115 people were going to be let go. In the end, the transition took another year, during which we could take courses to expand our CVs. It was convenient because it was the right time for me to make a new step."
Hans then looked for a new job nearby so that he could cycle to work. "I found Polyfluor on the internet. I grabbed my bike, rang the bell and applied. After a tour and a nice conversation, I was able to start work two weeks after that. In my first weeks, I learnt a lot right away." This is how Hans found his niche as a warehouse worker at Polyfluor. "Picking orders in the morning and getting everything ready to ship. Some items in a box and others on a pallet. Weighing, booking, creating packing slips and shipping. It’s dynamic, also with other 'hands on' jobs. Every day is different which makes it fun."
Hans is positive about working at Polyfluor. "The atmosphere is great. We are all respected, and people are honest. I appreciate that honesty the most. I feel valued, and we all share in the success. That's why we work as a team - that's our strength. Togetherness, also towards the customer, is what we excel in. For example, every customer who drops by gets a warm welcome. A cup of coffee, a chat, and we help as well and quickly as possible."
Looking to the future, Hans is enthusiastic. "I would like to retire from Polyfluor. If I am settled somewhere, I want to stay there. That is certainly the case. I feel fairly treated here, and the communication is forthright. Everything is open for discussion, and we are there for each other. That's worth everything to me."
